Разработчики пошли навстречу нетерпеливой натуре игроков: теперь за пять веков мы сможем не только покорить Европу, но и распространить свое могущество на индейские племена Америки. Дизайнеры в корне пересмотрели отношение к простым солдатам: манекенов в армию больше не берут. У воинов будут разные лица и богато украшенные геральдическими символами доспехи. Впрочем, придать индивидуальность каждому рыцарю все равно не получится, ведь нам обещают сражения с участием десяти тысяч бойцов одновременно. Вместе с армиями выросли и поселения. В виртуальной Европе встречаются как небольшие деревушки, так и целые города, занимающие солидную часть карты. Естественно, урбанистические центры можно и нужно штурмовать, используя все многообразие осадной машинерии той поры.
